You mention that the compressor for the bipedal walker was too weak to • power
the model properly, but I've managed to build some pretty serious
compressors, albeit with several motors. The one for the excavator was
powered by two old style 9V motors, and is capable of producing a pretty
good flow of air which is powerful enough to blow the hoses off the
cylinders if you set the pressure cutoff point too high. I've actually • found
that the old 9V motors are superior to the new 9V gear motors when it • comes
to compressors... I suspect they are actually more powerful in general • cases
too.

Really? I'd actually found the opposite - the old ones geared down to the
same speed seem to be less powerful than the geared ones. But I haven't
experimented with compressors yet, and it may be just that my old motors are
in bad shape, or my gearing had too much friction.

(...) I really do like the miniature Supercar, and I know exactly what you mean when you say you can't figure out the workings since you built it a year ago... It was interesting to read the bit about printing out plans of a model to the right size (...) (24 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)
