what set(s) should I get? —Jonathan Wilson
I have just bought an 8448 supercar, an 8500 fire slizer, an 8237 speed slammers red car and an 8247 buggy. As these are the first sets I have bought since coming out of my dark ages I have no other lego whatsoever. What I want to know is what other (...) (24 years ago, 12-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

Hi, What state are you in? In Melbourne I have seen the Power Puller at David Jones, a bit pricy though. TRU are selling the 8462 Tow Truck for $136, which is good if you want pneumatics. Basically look for sets on special, usually the older ones, (...) (24 years ago, 12-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Yes, I'd vote for the 8462 as well. Great set especially with the discounted price at Australia TRUs. Unfortunately the current catalogue is a bit little-on for really nice Technics sets; too many Roboriders and Slizers for my taste. I'd also (...) (24 years ago, 13-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

(...) TRU Penrith had the 8462 for $99, they had at least six sets. The 8448 is down to $129 there as well, they had two sets. pw (24 years ago, 13-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

Just got the latest TRU catalogue, and that is the special price on these sets. Just after I bought them both, typical! Martin (...) (24 years ago, 13-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

If you can find it, buy the 8268 Scorpion Attack. It has 81 pieces and instructions for a plane and a helicopter. Neat stuff includes a Cyber Cannon, purple angled beams, a cyborg pilot, and some strange scorpion plates. The playability of this (...) (24 years ago, 12-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: what set(s) should I get? —Michael Firman
(...) If you don't have any other lego at all I reecomend you buy just one or two lego (not technic) sets. Most new technic sets come with very few basic plates and bricks, which are incredibly useful. However, you may find the selection you have (...) (24 years ago, 13-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Please keep in mind that we are talking about LEGO. Virtually all kinds of bricks go well with each other. There are no rules. Which sets you'll want to buy depends on what you want to build. So, what do you like to build? Fredrik (24 years ago, 13-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)
