  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) Hi Eric, awesome update. It's no wonder that I only have three technic universal sets in my collection - and one of these was a gift, 8020. The other two are 8082, along with 8456, the fiber optic set from 1996, which I consider a universal (...) (16 years ago, 17-May-09, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

I have now added the sets from 1993 to Technicopedia including 8022, 8042, 8082, 8818, 8824, 8857, and 8872. (URL) Eric (URL) Technicopedia> (URL) (16 years ago, 17-May-09, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

Re: A couple of gear questions

(...) It should perhaps be noted that there are now two versions of this part, and the newer version no longer has a torque range embossed on the side. The BI for 8292 shows the older part, but mine came with the newer. My 8297 both came with the (...) (16 years ago, 9-May-09, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Heavy Haul Trailer and Winch Truck

(...) ummmm.. things could break and people could, well... you figure it out. humans and snapping high tension steal cables don't mix. cables win. weird! /G (16 years ago, 5-May-09, to lugnet.modelteam, lugnet.technic)

Re: Heavy Haul Trailer and Winch Truck

(...) I wonder why competative winching has bever been a sport? What you'd do is connect the winches on two trucks, and whichever drags the other to the mid point first wins. You wouldn't be allowed to connect the trucks to anything but you could (...) (16 years ago, 30-Apr-09, to lugnet.modelteam, lugnet.technic)

Heavy Haul Trailer and Winch Truck

Hello everyone, It has been a while since I posted a 'story' on Lugnet, however.... Here is the latest completed project. (URL) 16 wheel detachable goose neck low boy with a 16 wheel jeep and a fully functional winch truck. It is designed to haul (...) (16 years ago, 30-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.announce)

  Undercarriage

For the past 6 months on and off I've been trying to create a Technic construction vehicle... with all tries miserably failing, until recently I managed to pull up a nice undercarriage system which, in my opinion, is kind of huge. I originally (...) (16 years ago, 24-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  PF Speed controller test

Hi all, Had my camera back so figured I'd upload a video of the new PF controller controlling some old 9V stuff. It's hooked to an original PF battery box, don't have he new one and haven't tested the old 9V b-box. (URL) (16 years ago, 21-Apr-09, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.technic)

Re: A couple of gear questions

(...) Right, that's what I meant- sorry for the confusion. (16 years ago, 18-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic)

Re: A couple of gear questions

(...) He probably means two clutch gears in a single axle, meshing with two other gears which also share an axle. That way (in parallel) they should slip at twice the nominal torque. (16 years ago, 18-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic)

"Tim (Smith)" <tsmith7057@comcast.net> wrote in message news:KI7yAw.23B@lugnet.com... (...) You won't get twice the allowable torque. What you'll get is a proportionate increase in torque as the load on the output from the clutch gears approaches (...) (16 years ago, 17-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic)

Re: A couple of gear questions

(...) That's not a bug- it's a feature. The point is to protect the motor from damage. That said, I bet if you used two clutch gears you'll get twice the allowable torque. I don't recommend it- but you could try it and see what you think. (16 years ago, 17-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic)

Re: A couple of gear questions

(...) With the PF and NXT motors, i perhaps agree with you. Of course, you can get any torque limit you want by gearing up and then back down, it's just more awkward. (16 years ago, 16-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic)

Re: A couple of gear questions

(...) For most applications it dosen't really pose a noticeable problem. However this inconsistancey is due to the internal structure and the way in which friction is achived. (URL) the only problem I have with it is that the clutch slips way too (...) (16 years ago, 16-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic)

Re: A couple of gear questions

(...) I think it's a non-issue for the most part. The torque isn't really "over a range" - it's different for different clutch gears, but for any *single* clutch gear it's pretty constant. After all, if it has a point at which it starts slipping, it (...) (16 years ago, 16-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic)

Re: A couple of gear questions

(...) (URL) you can see the writing, and why the torque over a range. Is a non constant-clutching like this good or bad? What do people think? (16 years ago, 16-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Help needed on gear spacing, and another question

(...) No! They're properly aligned. ;) They just look like that, because the way the worm termination is done. However the screw works continuous and smoothly. (16 years ago, 8-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

Re: Help needed on gear spacing, and another question

(...) Is it just me, or do those worm gears look like the haven't been aligned properly? (16 years ago, 8-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

Re: Help needed on gear spacing, and another question

While the worm and 1x4 rack pitch are not the same and they do not mesh perfectly, it is still possible to make them work together in a reliable way. You may see one example below, (URL) Originally posted at TechnicBRICKs (URL) (16 years ago, 7-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic, FTX)
