I've never built a Technic set.
I've never owned a Technic set.
I *do* own a bag of misc. Technic parts, but I couldn't tell you what they
are or what they're used for--round thingys, pokey doohickeys, stick
hootises, bent thingamabobs, etc.
With this in mind, what is a good *starter* set that will capture my
attention without raising my frustration level? I've been looking at the
new Star Wars sets, but I don't know if I will be able to build them without
getting divorced, or if I will even enjoy the process of building or the
finished creation.
So, if somebody will take my hand and lead me ever so gently into the world
of gears and beams....

(My wife will be ever so pleased that I'm looking at getting into a whole
new realm of Lego....)

| Good for you! Technic is really neato. This message is pretty long, so here's the summary: I suggest the Speed Slammers, 8236 Bike Burner and 8237 Formula Force. They're fairly simple but demonstrate some principles of Technic building, and they're (...) (25 years ago, 23-Feb-00, to lugnet.technic)

| Brian Sauls wrote in message ... (...) You've got several suggestions by now, but here's a couple more: * 8251 Sonic Cycle (1999) is one of the best small models I've seen. It's almost entirely "new Technic" in construction, though (89 pieces, six (...) (25 years ago, 23-Feb-00, to lugnet.technic)

| (...) Hmm. They are somewhat large sets, but the 3-in-1 Car and the Search Sub (assuming they are still available) are frequently half-off from S@H. Great deals on sets that are fun to build, fun to play with after building, and demonstrate quite a (...) (25 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.technic)
