Hi Paul,
Sorry about the posts not making sense.
The differential lets me make continuous timing adjustment through 360 degrees.
The two pistons are offset by 90 degrees, as are the switches. The differential
lets you set the angle between the pistons and the switches. If one of the
pistons is at 12:00 noon, then to make the engine go forward, you adjust that
piston's switch to be at 1:30. To make the engine go backwards, set the
piston's angle at 10:30. By setting the piston's switch at 12:00 when the
piston is at 12:00 noon, the engine cannot run.
I'll crank up some building instructions in the next few days.
