To my knowledge this is the first reversible pneumatic engine.

The difference between the two is the positioning of the switch handles on the
multiplexers.

Very cool Kevin!

Thanks!

Have you thought of using a sliding linkage like steam train valves? It would
make it less than 100% pneumatic, but might make it somewhat less complex.

Uh.... well.... no.  I didn't know they existed.

That is the problem with a computer engineer designing a reversible pneumatic
engine ;^)

To be honest, the reversible engine was used as an example to show off the
multiplexer. By itself the mux is not that interesting, so I needed an example
to show it off.  I'm working on LEGO pneumatic computing mechanisms for projects
beyond PneumAddic and PneumAddic II.
