Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems —Kung-Khoon Quah
(...) You are welcome Eric. Although I was surprised someone beat me to the punch. I was thinking of posting this morning after mediation from Brickshelf but looks like its OK. Also, I was surprised someone did not post earlier pics. And this is the (...) (21 years ago, 31-May-03, to lugnet.technic, FTX) !

(...) Sorry for the problem with the links. The new FTX format must be throwing it off and I cannot seem to preview so hope this works. (21 years ago, 31-May-03, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Links in FTX require an opening < and closing >. Todd, perhaps you could turn on the same "www." and "(URL) recognition that plain text uses for FTX?         Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems —Øyvind Steinnes
Nice motor and gear cases. I would like a few of them :) First I have a few question: 1. What is the small grooves beside the axelholes? If you look closly too all three pieces you will see some small grooves in the casing around the outside of the (...) (21 years ago, 31-May-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems —Kung-Khoon Quah
(...) There is a groove around the axleholes or a larger hole. The inside of this larger hole has small teeth on it. Interesting but I am not sure of its use since an axle will connect to the other pieces. It could be a sleeve for another kind of (...) (21 years ago, 31-May-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems —Trevyn Watson
(...) As i was looking at the picutres, I was thinking: "Where have I seen something lioke that before?". And then I realised: (URL) end of that piece looks a lot like the teeth in those new pieces. I only have piece 41681, and not the piece that it (...) (21 years ago, 1-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems —John Guerquin
(...) I also have the new 4094 Inventor set. After disassembling the 90 degree gearbox, and comparing the grooves with the new clicky joints of (URL) #8558-1 Cahdok and Gahdok, here are some observations: 1.         Re: I Win! —Eric Sophie
(...) Doh! You win! I'll get you yet! P.S. I got mine yesterday. P.S. The worm gear box is a superior design, less backlash, stays crispy in milk. e (21 years ago, 6-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic)

        RE: I Win! —Bram Lambrecht
(...) But it's still a worm gear, so it's really only good for positioning devices, not for gear reduction. I agree with others that a small, efficient gear reducer would be more useful than another worm. --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (...) (21 years ago, 6-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic)

        Re: I Win! —Eric Sophie
(...) But, its an improvement. How many threads have been tossed around complaining about the backlash problem with worm gears and the various gear boxes.
