Re: Technic MOTM needs a new name.

(...) For the record, I agree with the word ownership sentiment. I did not at any point in time imply a word ownership in any legal sense. I simply made a polite request of someone and explained why I was making that reqest. Tobbe happened to accept (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Technic MOTM needs a new name.

A few others to add to the list: ToadAuto.com MOTM: (URL) Model Building Mania MOTM: (URL) Car List Best MOTM: (URL) Model of the Month: (URL) Hobby Model of the Month Club: (URL) there is Joe Lauher's Construction Toy Homepage which has a MOTM (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Too much crane?

(...) Uhhh...hhh....... As usual with your models, I thought the first shot was the actual crane, until I clicked on it to see the close-up details. And it's radio-controlled too???? Yikes. Excellent work, as always... --Bill. (I added (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam)

Re: Technic MOTM needs a new name.

(...) Larry may not be sure what it implies but I think I know what it implies to me... To me it implies that anyone trying to trademark a name as generic as "Model of the Month" is being silly at best. What if Fashion Magazine decided to start a (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Technic MOTM needs a new name.

(...) FWIW, Model Railroader(tm) had a "Model of the Month" for many years, may still do for all I know (I'm no longer a subscriber). Not sure what that implies, just thought I'd throw it out as a perhaps useful bit of info. (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Technic MOTM needs a new name.

(...) well, here's my 2 cents: 1) no one can own words. An artist (I forget her name) presented Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities IN ITS ENTIRETY, to make precisely that point. In the ensuing court battles, she won. (no joke) 2) Model of the (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Too much crane?

(...) A real treat to the model-team and technic heads alike. As others, I cannot wait to read the write-up on your website. In all the pictures posted, one question is nagging me - what are the pieces that you are using for the mirror "arm" (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: MOC: RT16 Radio Telescope

Simon, Thanks for the feedback. I agree, more white and grey would be an improvement. Actually, I do have the parts, but admit, I am not real good with color coordination. However, I like the Lego blue with the black. Typically, I like yellow and (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: MOC: RT16 Radio Telescope

(...) I love this model. I'm a sucker for anything technic that isn't a vehicle as I think it has a tendency to be used only for that. This is an excellent subject for a MOC and an excellently realised model. I particularly like the fact you have (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Too much crane?

(...) You are correct. I have found some wonderful pieces in my daughter's LEGO kits that work well in some of my robotics creations. Never limit yourself to only technic kits. If you do you will severly limit your ability to add the fine detail (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Too much crane?

(...) Am I that predictable or are the force with you? I need to get my hands om some non-Technic sets one of these days... /Tobbe (URL) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Too much crane?

Hi Jennifer, Great model! It's really similar to the real DEMAG crane! Also nice to see a company edition of a LEGO-crane. Baldwinns is not an unknown lifting operator. Are you going to build their LTM11000 as well??? ;-) Dennis (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Technic MOTM needs a new name.

(...) Interesting! (...) I'd like to keep my name out of it, it's the Technic community's contest, I'm just the originator/administrator as is :) (...) LOL! (...) *smiles* Perhaps a bit excotic? :) (...) I'm surprised you did not ask for 10% of my (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Too much crane?

Now I understand why you needed the grey minifig hands! I also like the barcode truck wheels. They are a favorite of mine, being so realistic loking. The model looks very nice, as usual. It was probably very interesting to build it. I'm looking (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Pneumatic Air Compressor not working. Suggestions needed.

My CAT 797 Mining Truck is near completion. Everything works the way I wanted accept for the air compressor. I bought new pneumatic parts from PLD and tested my mechanism with the large hand held pump. Everything worked fine so I built a few (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Technic MOTM needs a new name.

(...) I agree with Ross here - the difference being, LUGNET and LDraw use LEGO as a part of an acronym. Where the Technic MOTM used the name Model of the Month within it fully spelled out. I think its different enough to make a distinction. Anyways, (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Technic MOTM needs a new name.

(...) It may be an issue, it may not. TCM is the trademark logo of the cable channel 'Turner Classic Movies' (...) Or TOM, _T_echnic _O_f the _M_onth Just a thought from an outsider. --Anthony (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Technic MOTM needs a new name.

(...) You are wrong here ROSCO, LDraw stands for 'LEGO Draw' and LUGNET stands for 'LEGO USers Group Network', so you see both actually do use the word LEGO. Just for the record I don't have a comment/stance of this MOTO 'brickering' that is going (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Technic MOTM needs a new name.

(...) I like it! Does it belong somewhere else I should know about 8-) (...) I'm thinking TiM - _T_echn_i_c of the _M_onth and since every one whos not into Technic has something against Tim I don't think they'll mind :) I like acronyms that can be (...)
