A good question. The planning stages, just using paper & pencil, graphic calc from time to time, takes about 2 to 8 weeks. No really fancy plans on paper or screen, just number values and sketches. My <set:8539>, back-ordered from Lego S@H, just arrived in mail. I have not finished building the models yet. The set comes with two IR controllers, as well as two receivers.
