Re: Advice from crane builders (was: Blimey)

(...) OK, I wanna ask some advice on this one from the big crane builders (yeah that's you!!) I was aiming to be able to lift the a-frame mechanically, but so far have found no solution. I would have liked to use pneumatics, but with the a-frame (...) (20 years ago, 5-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Pneumatic Cylinders

(...) You should also try with another cylinder to blow air into the pump while it is fully retracted (or being retracted). Otherwise your testing will not reveal a defective non-return valve. The air inflow in the pump through the nozzle should be (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

What can you do with a 8460?

With the buying frenzy surrounding 8438 subsiding as this second reissue being sold out as well, it is time to ponder: What can you do with a 8460/31/38 set? Anyone who has built something out of the 8460 please reply below. When I first thought of (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Pneumatic Cylinders

(...) Yes, I have, see above. It was not easy to get the black cap off, but it can be done without damage to the parts. Only damage was to one of my fingers, but it fixed itself within a few days ;-) Martin (20 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Pneumatic Cylinders

(...) Thanks for the info guys. I have had one or two older pump cylinders that have lost pressure. Also, some older yellow cylinders (with square bases) are difficult to retract from the fully extended position, due to leakage in that position. (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New MOC: Double Track Train Bridge

Hi TJ Seems to be the bridge with the best weight to span ratio - great. Do you know the pc game 'bridgebuilder'? It lets you build truss bridges but with a limited amount of money (= beams). looking forward to your stay in Switzerland Beat (20 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Double Track Train Bridge

(...) Thanks, Kevin. I had a lot of fun doing this. Perhaps it was the quick turnaround from concept to final MOC. It was much, much faster than other MOCs that I've built in the past. Efficiency is good! Especially with bridges. I really didn't (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.trains)

Re: New MOC: Double Track Train Bridge

(...) Thanks, Adrian. (...) Ok, at least you're not drooling :-) I could have done it sooner, but I was washing my hair, combing the dog, or brushing my teeth. Take your pick ;-) I could come up with sorrier excuses... give me a minute... best, TJ (20 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.trains)

Re: New MOC: Double Track Train Bridge

(...) Thanks, Ted! The pattern is so darn simple- 11 identical segments (except the end supports are different). Once I established the geometry of 1 segment, the rest was a matter of speed building ;-) best, TJ (20 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.trains)

  Re: Pneumatic Cylinders

  Pneumatic Cylinders

I've bought quite a few 8455 excavators now and in all of them the pneumatic cylinders have restricted air flow due to partially blocked nozzles. The amount of restriction varies, as measured by extending and contracting the cylinders by hand and (...) (20 years ago, 3-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Looking for: Lids

Looking to buy lids of the new Metru sets off of people. Accepting Black and Dark Red, only though. Email me or respond in thread if ya got some. :) Rick (20 years ago, 3-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, FTX)
