Glad you like the pics. You have a good setup there yourself.
I used to build on the floor with my tubs all around me. I never dump parts
out on the floor. Guess thats kinda weird though. Now I build at the table
mostly and just grab parts out when I need them. A small work pile tends to
form as I build a particular MOC, and I grab stuff out of this a lot. Like
with my module I have about a tub-full of mostly blue bricks scattered on
the table.
Regarding sorting, I'm actually always trying to find a more efficient way
to get to my parts. Moving parts to different tubs and such.
But in the very beginning, back in like '97 or '98 when I first sorted, I
believe I first pulled out all giant parts, then all basic bricks, then
minifig stuff, then technic stuff.
I seem to remember that was a good way to start.
