Office Depot is listing the 4-drawer carts with metallic blue or metallic
lavender frames this week for 2 for $30.  This is instore only, I can't
find them online.

lavender - 318-065

I own the equivalent of 50+ of these (I've bought various Iris carts in
4/6/7/9-drawer sizes from OD, Costco, etc), they are really nice for
storing large Lego collections (and even small, just stack Plano boxes in
the drawers).

I've only ever seen these color frames at OD, and color-coding the frames
makes it REALLY easy to know what stack to head for when you have a wall
full of them.  So far I have tons of white frames, tons of black, tons of
clear (frames are the same translucent plastic as the drawers), a few blue
(from the Lego primary colored ones at Target), and now I'll be adding some
metallic lavender and metallic blue ones to the mix ;-)

Once I finally move and buy a house, I should be able to get my collection
sorted into stacks and colorcoding them by Iris frame color nicely ;-)

I like the Iris carts also, unfortunately, in tall columns they're
awfully wobbly. More an more I'm convinced the best way to go for
storage is to custom build shelving, though the Iris cart drawers could
be used in custom built shelving.

What would be cool is if they had some double or triple wide units,
which could stack on top of 2 or 3 regular units so that I could tie
several columns together. I think that would reduce the wobbliness,
though what is really needed is cross bracing. I guess I could add cross
bracing.

(...) Why don't you just connect the adjacent ones together using the little plastic connectors that come with them? (22 years ago, 8-Aug-02, to lugnet.storage)

Some of the Iris carts (especially the Lego primary colored ones from Target) have slots in the frame, and tabs are cast into the back of the frame. You snap these tabs out of the frame, and lock 2 stacks together through the slots. The Iris carts I (...) (22 years ago, 8-Aug-02, to lugnet.storage)
