In lugnet.starwars, Eric Kingsley writes:

The bigger question to me is what theme is this Mars stuff in.  My guess is
that its a Town sub-theme because it can't be space under their contract with
Lucas.

That rumour (about no space themes while Star Wars was being produced) was
never confirmed through official LEGO sources- and given the presence of
little, umm, blue men in the Mars line, I'd say it was greatly exaggerated.

On another note, I noticed the inclusion of that MF cockpit on the Mars craft,
and I'm very happy about it.  I like the element in it's own right (ok, yeah,
one stud wider and it would be better for sitting two people across) and I like
the fact that we'll have an alternate printing on it.

I'm very excited about 2001's offerings, which surprises me, because last year
only two things really excited me (other than Star Wars, I mean)- the return of
Castle (not the sets themselves, just the return) and the dinosaurs (once
again, not the sets themselves, just the dinos).  I can't wait to get some of
the Mars and Alpha Team sets, though.

(...) I believe that the only parts in the clause you speak of that are effected are those with printing on them that is definitely Star Wars. Like the 2x2 tan tile that has the Rebel Symbol on it or the 2x2 Round Gray tile with the Imperial Symbol. (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars)
