Wasn't there some sort of clause that stated that parts designed for the SW
sets are licensed by Lucas Arts or something to that effect?  The reason I am
mentioning it is because of two reasons.  Its quite obvious that the Martians
are all Battle Droid parts except for the head.  Also, the Shuttle looking
thing appears to use the MF cockpit and then they added a nosecone of some
sort.  Just wondering.

I believe that the only parts in the clause you speak of that are effected are
those with printing on them that is definitely Star Wars.  Like the 2x2 tan
tile that has the Rebel Symbol on it or the 2x2 Round Gray tile with the
Imperial Symbol.  Several of the torso's would be involved as well.

The bigger question to me is what theme is this Mars stuff in.  My guess is
that its a Town sub-theme because it can't be space under their contract with
Lucas.

(...) That rumour (about no space themes while Star Wars was being produced) was never confirmed through official LEGO sources- and given the presence of little, umm, blue men in the Mars line, I'd say it was greatly exaggerated.
