the same way about the set.  It IS pretty durn big!  But look out!  The box
shows that you can make THREE submersibles with the detachable mini-sub. • You
cannot, in fact, make a submersible with the mini-sub and the big spinning
pneumatic tube motor without a bit of "creative reengineering."

I have seen that picture showing three seperate subs as well, so I was a bit
confused when the sub I got didn't do that. I'm guessing there's more than • one
version of the sub?

Um, weird, mine makes all three subs.

(goes to check)

Yeah.  It's so simple you're going to kick yourself.  Take the front
compartment, attach the propellor section - but don't put on the propellors.
Then attachthe rotating tail section to that.  Voila!  Instant third sub.  It
also explains why the propellor section has technic beams on both sides rather
than only on one.

Oh, I see where everyone is going. Yes, I knew there were three different
versions of the removable minisub, but by the way the box is illustrated, it
appears that the main sub is supposed to come apart into three different subs
all at the same time. Close examination of the back of the box last night
showed that the three subs were the exact same one, just with different rear
sections. TLC should have done a better job representing how it came apart in
my eyes..

D'oh! I just made the third sub last night w/OUT any re-engineering :) Yeah, the manual should've included the third sub, rather than an implicit box illustration. Thanks, everyone! -Zak (...) (25 years ago, 28-Dec-99, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.reviews)
