Yet another EP1 nitpick —Richard Hrynyszyn
Ok, i found another tiny little nitpick with the movie. When Qui-Gon first visits Watto to buy parts for the ship he tries the Jedi mind trick on Watto, who laughs at his feeble attempt. Yet later on in the film Watto rolls his "chance cube" to (...) (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Yet another EP1 nitpick —Eric Lind
After QGJ tries the mind trick, Watto says "Do you think you're a Jedi or something?" I don't think he was really picking up on Qui-Gon's Jedi-ness. QG's statements weren't blatantly wierd, they could have been interpreted as a person trying to push (...) (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) the lines of: I'm a (XXX), jedi powers don't work on me, only money. XXX being whatever race he is which i can't recall. I took this to mean that Watto realized that QGJ was a jedi and was telling him that his powers would not work on his (...) (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) a (...) While he did say that, I got the impression that Watto was inferring "Just in case you happen to be a Jedi, I'm immune, but I don't think you're a Jedi, because you strike me as being rather stupid and reckless." As to the waving of (...) (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

They should have made him in a style similar to the monkey from the old pirate sets. It would be great if they would release a SW (...) (25 years ago, 26-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Yet another EP1 nitpick —Eric Joslin
(...) For the record, Toydarian. I have to say, the wording in that scene leaves me a little confused, too. Why would he embellish about mind tricks not working on him, *unless* he thought Qui-Gon was a Jedi? But if he thought Qui-GOn was a Jedi, (...) (25 years ago, 26-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) Better yet, who told everybody about the Jedi Mind Trick? And if it's so well known, why hasn't anyone figured out a defense against it? And if there's no defense against it, why aren't Jedi reviled everywhere? Better yet, why are the good (...) (25 years ago, 26-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) rolls (...) I also thought about that. It seems to me that Jedi are very self serving. They are definately not Paladins, with a strict code of morality or chivalry. It seems that they work towards achieving 'good' but with a 'by any means (...) (25 years ago, 26-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Yet another EP1 nitpick —Eric Lind
(...) That's always irked me a bit. In the Star Wars RPG, you get nailed all the time for using the Force incorrectly (all sorts of opportunities for the Dark Side to tempt you and the like). Perhaps this is why people like Anakin and Luke can be (...) (25 years ago, 26-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)
