| | Upon Furthur Review... and something to look for Eric Kingsley
|
| | I was able to go see The Phantom Menace for a second time over the weekend and I have to say that I liked it even better the second time. Jar Jar was not as annoying the second time around. Don't get me wrong he is annoying but because I knew what (...) (26 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

| | | | (...) I agree completely with your 2nd viewing assessment, though I also knew going in the first time, that Jar Jar was going to be a nuissence, so I was able to look past him, but you do have to admit that he's well done technically, if overly (...) | | | | | | (...) Maybe he hadn't trained that way? Maybe the second half was damaged (what are the chances of Obi-wan scoring a direct hit on the center joint?) Maybe because it would have caused Obi-wan to sneer, pull out his gun, and blow Darth Maul away. (...) (26 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

| | | | I will tell you what the book said. The book noted that those barriers are a security device designed to slow down and halt intruders getting close to the basement area of the palace. Apparently they tripped the security system while on route on the (...) (26 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Say, although DM seemed a bit surprised when he realized he was trapped in the final containment field adjacent QGJ's, do you think there's any chance that DM might've somehow known about these a little bit (...) | | | | | | (...) What I want to know is why OBK couldn't run fast enough to make it all the way through the barriers. Remember how fast he and QGJ moved when they were on the ship and facing the destroyer droids? Then they were moving at "ludicrous speed" -- (...) (26 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

| | | | | | (...) Jedi Speed. It's a commonly (read, in more than one Star Wars book/game/etc) used Force ability. My personal guess as to none of them- Obi-Wan, Maul, or Qui-Gon- used it to get through the barriers is that they were busy using the Force in (...) (26 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

| | | | | | (...) But... but... but... OWK was doing _one_ thing - trying to run through the barriers. If that is not a good time to use speed, what is? So that is not a good, complete answer. Unless in some later movie OWK, in retelling this story, smacks his (...) (26 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

| | | | | | (...) Let's see... he books it really fast into the little room with Maul, who uses his souped up reflexes to chop him down, because Obi-Wan's natural reflexes are unable to let him block the strike. A good time to use speed, to me, would be when (...) (26 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

| | | | | | From what I remember, the book mentioned that it was appearing that Maul was leading them somewhere intentionally. So I think he was trying to separate them.
