Not really, I plan to keep plugging away at ‘em. The good thing is that there are SO many different types of LEGO modified bricks, color variations, etc. now as opposed to years ago, and this allows for all kinds of detail possibilities. I can see how Bionicle pieces can be limiting on a small scale. That’s why I’ve been using Bionicle/Techinc only for my larger stuff (Jabba, Dewback, Acklay, etc.).

I think it would have made a lot more sense to combine Optimus Prime with the Falcon. It’s the signature ship of the Star Wars universe, it’s one of the larger small ships in the Rebel fleet, and it’s basically a giant space-semi.

I though about it, but in the end I chose the X-Wing for the leader of the good guys simply because it’s was Luke’s vehicle, and I just sort of see him more as the “leader” of the good guys in the Star Wars films (if that makes any sense). So, really, instead of pairing function or form of ship to Transformer equivalent, I guess I was thinking more along lines of pilot of ship to Transformer equivalent (probaly not the best way to do it, and I’m sure I’ll change my mind a bunch of times as I go along). For now, I think I’ll make the Falcon the Ultra Magnus of the bunch, I guess.

I think it would have been much more visually interesting if the R2 dome was used as the head for the robot mode

It’s funny that you say that: I actually did that at first! I thought it looked hilarious, but it was just too small compared to the rest of the model. If I was going for more of a Star Wars mech, it would have been cool; but, since I wanted to make them characters and not just battle machines, I thought a slightly bigger face suited him better (even if it did only turn out to be just a structural detail from the top of the ship).

(...) Ooh, ooh, do a Droid Fighter that transforms into a robot! Oh wait... Just out of curiosity, are you running out of characters to make for your Miniland line? I know I'm stretching the limits of available color selection with my BioniWars (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.starwars, FTX)
