Re: fan of both, hoping for the best —Matthew Miller
(...) Yes a lot of the technical manuals seem like they were written by trekkies. (26 years ago, 6-Oct-98, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: fan of both, hoping for the best —Justin M. Kopp
(...) hey, i dont know who wrote it!! the book just recently came out and it has some *really* nice cutaway drawing of all the ships. and remember, Lucas authorizes *everything* starwars... (26 years ago, 6-Oct-98, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: fan of both, hoping for the best —Matthew Miller
(...) Sure, but that doesn't mean some of it isn't crap. (26 years ago, 6-Oct-98, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: fan of both, hoping for the best —Richard Franks
(...) Maybe it's a cunning ploy on the side of the trekkies to win the Federation vs Empire arguments - if they design the Empirical fleet they can pick holes in it ;) "ah.. but if picard shot a dual-phased polarising beam within a reversed neutrino (...)         Re: fan of both, hoping for the best —Matthew Miller
(...) Ok look. (Not you in particular. Star Trek fans, mostly.) Star Trek people labor intensively over each shot. How would they deal with hundreds of TIE fighters (or X-wings) flying in every direction (not just sitting there!) shooting almost (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: fan of both, hoping for the best —Richard Franks
(...) Easy, they would have a stand off for 1/2 the show while they tried to wrangle a noble peace with the enemy. Meanwhile a member of the crew would have a personal dilemma and Data would find a previously undiscovered theory to do with (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: fan of both, hoping for the best —Tom McDonald
(...) You're just saying that because it's true! ;-) I like both ST and SW. And each has its flaws. I like them both because they are so different. I just chucked a page worth of post giving inconsistencies on both sides, but it was needless. The (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: fan of both, hoping for the best —Richard Franks
(...) Yeah, I've watched a *lot* of ST too.. and neither is 'better' as you say! The ST universe, by trying to be a universe with multiple writers is always going to bring up more apparent inconsistencies which makes them more fun to play with ;) (...)          Re: fan of both, hoping for the best —Tom McDonald
That would be cool to see how close any POVray'ed B5 MOC's look compared to an actual screenshot... (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: fan of both, hoping for the best —Terry Keller
(...) I vaguely remember reading one comparison between ST and SW. They were comparing characters and technologies, and who would win in a fight. It was amusing. Kirk vs. Vader. :-) Vader wins the fight, but hey, Kirk gets the chicks! Picard just (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.starwars)

Terry K wrote in message <361beb9c.14325267@l...et.com>... (...) Kirk was so much better than Picard. What a wuss. (...) It's called the stormtrooper effect, and can be seen throughout the SW movies. The more people shooting and the more obvious the (...) (26 years ago, 8-Oct-98, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: fan of both, hoping for the best —Terry Keller
(...) True, but Picard was distinguished. :-) And eventually the writers did give him a little more action. Reminds me of the transformation of George Bush from wimpy vice-prez to butt-kicking prez. All orchestrated by image-professionals. (...) The (...) (26 years ago, 8-Oct-98, to lugnet.starwars)
