Wow, I've had completely the opposite experience with my LEGO - I've bought
every 1999 and 2000 non-Technic SW set, and the UCS sets, and a couple of
2001 sets, and I've had NO missing pieces and NO defective parts, and in
most sets I've had a couple of small parts spare. I'm in the UK, so I guess
my LEGO comes from a different plant than US customers - maybe one
particular plant has got problems?

| (...) Well, I'm in the US and I've had the same experience you've had with the SW sets... nothing defective, nothing missing, and usually some extras.
