     (...) But Darth Maul is an alien. LEGO has never hesitated to be creative with decidely alien heads, witness Maul and all sorts of UFO, Insectoid, and other space aliens. It says two things 1) he has a helmet with an open visor that needed black showing through (like the new Imperial Guards) and 2) that giving him a normal head would basically have declared him a human being.
