Hi Everyone, Since the gauntlet was cast last week or so, I decided to make a Cylon Raider. (URL) Mark's Lego Creations (URL) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Mark Sandlin wrote in message ... (...) Can't say much that other's haven't, except I'd particularly like to say wow about the excellent detailing job. (Wow!) One thing that I can't figure out is how the guns and wing tips retract. I guess the gun (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Mark Sandlin
(...) Thanks... last night I discovered the value of binoculars and SW Macrobinoculars as detail elements. :^) (...) Nah, no problem. The gun is only 1-wide, and there is a 2x3 that bridges a rail into the outermost portion of the wing. The wing (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Dave Johann
Hmmm...Mark, I'm starting to dislike you very much...you keep setting that building bar far too high for the rest of us! That is one awesome model, my man. Where's the Galactica? Or is Dan, the man building it and just didn't tell me? ;-) Congrats (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Joel Jacobsen
(...) man. (...) That makes two of us. Oh man.. I feel unworthy for ever thinking that the MF's saucer plates would work well. That's just... wow. The chromed diver maskes look really sweet. "Oh yes - eez ver' nice..." (And if he whips out a (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Mark Sandlin
(...) Heh. I thought about using those, but 1) it would have made the scale too big, and 2) I took it as a building challenge to make it outa plates. :^) (...) I did that because someone suggested it a couple weeks ago when we were talking about (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Joel Jacobsen
(...) MF's (...) Yeah.. The thought that the saucers would be too big did cross my mind but I've not looked closely enough at them to think it that far out. (...) They look really good - actually helps add to the ambiance. I mean it's obvious what (...) (24 years ago, 19-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Mark Sandlin
(...) Aw, shucks. (...) Well, you see, Mr. Adama, we had to replace yer doohickey coil here, and, well, we don't have a doohickey servicing fambuilator, so we had to tow yer Gacklackticka down to the shop on 37th, so it should be back by, oh, middle (...)         Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Jude Beaudin
(...) -- Mark, WOW!!! That is amazing! No one will be allowed to "moultonize"(1) you with work like that. I love the layout and the curves. You met the challenge and exceeded it.      (...) So how do you come up with these ideas? I need insight:) -- Pawel (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Mark Sandlin
(...) Hi Pawel, Battlestar Galactica was a TV show that was created in the post-Star Wars frenzy of the late 70's I watched this show religiously when I was a youngster, and I had a few toys related to it (mmmm 10" tall Cylon Centurion) Here's a (...)          Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —James Brown
(...) Very nice use of the SW engine elements in a non-engine way - good surface detailing in general. The cockpit looks a bit kludgy, but I suspect you've done about as good a job as can be done and still have it opening. James (self-confessed BG (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Mark Sandlin
(...) Yeah, it's not the most elegant solution, but I had to choose between making an opening cockpit or making it more accurate, and I just had to get some "cylons" in there. The cockpit would look a bit better if TLC would make some 1x5 and 1x7 (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —A. Mark Wilburn
(...) Firstly: D'oh! Beaten to the punch! (I only just bought a few chrome divers helmets for the exact same purpose! And I haven't gathered nearly enough dark grey plates and wings yet...) Mark, I wish you'd warn us before you unleash another of (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Trevor Pruden
Mark...you inspire me to destroy all my freighters and cruisers with posts like that: It makes me want to build bigger and better! Blast it all! :) Nice detail on the angled engine modules! I never thought of that before... Excellent creation! (...) (24 years ago, 19-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Mark Sandlin
(...) Well, I hope I'm inspiring you to build, and not to quit. :^) (...) I hadn't thought of it either until I was looking at the picture of the Raider, and then I was trying to think of ways to make the ports on top... then I realized the (...) (24 years ago, 19-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Mladen Pejic
Again I am to late to reply to your post Mark... Anyway, WICKED job Mark! What shocked me was the beautiful curves of the craft and the amazing engine detail, WAY to "kewl"! BTW I can't wait to see what you'll build next. ;-) (...) (24 years ago, 19-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)

(...) Thanks Mladen! How's school going? (...) :^) I'm trying to think of stuff now. I may try to come up with a very small fighter that will fit on Dan Jassim's big carrier.         Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! —Mark Sandlin
Thanks James! I had the same toy, which is why I decided to incorporate the wings that open to reveal laser cannons... the "real" raider didn't do that. :^) ~Mark (24 years ago, 19-Oct-00, to lugnet.space)
