Steven: Thanks for the response. Im glad you like it!
Tony: Thanks for the comments. Im glad you like the design. No, I dont have a
shot of the undersideits pretty uninteresting so I didnt take one. But the
engine compartment is only open in the very front.
Concerning a landing gear: dear lord, I cant believe Im writing this... takes
an audible breath in. . . With a racer, landing gears amount to unnecessary
weight and moving parts as well as possible interruption of aerodynamics. The
only street a racecar sees is the track. The rest of the time is spent in a
truck to travel or in a garage, both of which could reasonably have harnesses,
racks, magnetic bays, bodybuilder midgets, lifts, super-powered airhockey table,
etc., to hold the car up so it doesnt have to passively hover at all times. Or
they could store it on top of some really fluffy pillows. Or packing peanuts. Or
coat the underside of the car with oil and the floor of the garage could be
covered in water. The only limit is your imagination.
I see no need for landing gears in most space-only military craft and I have now
reasonably extended this liberating policy to another genre: racing. I know its
difficult to shrug the tyrannical yoke of other builders enslaving
expectations. But why refuse an alternative of freedom?
