    Carybdys Class Interceptor —Tom McDonald
Hello, Here's a new ship for you to peruse. (2 URLs) Comments welcome! -Tom McD. (URL) (20 years ago, 15-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX) !!

Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Jean-Pascal Rignault
Tom this small ship is perfect! Great use of rounded bricks to build the cockpit, the inside detailing is awesome, pure goodness. What a wonderfull way to use that 2x6x1 arch! At first sight I thought the canopy would not open, but it does! Wow! How (...) (20 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Tom McDonald
(...) Thanks for the compliment. (...) It was a requirement :-) (...) Ryan's assembly is a way that he worked out, and yes he did name it after me (whatta guy :) although I'll let him comment on his own experimentation process. The way he figured (...)          Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Ryan Wood
(...) Like Tom says, experiment with it. Try and find new ways to do it. Between he and I, we have two solid ways of making those two pieces fit together, and I'm willing to bet that someone will come up with some other surprise technique to make it (...)          Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Jean-Pascal Rignault
Here is the assembly I found for this engine configuration : (URL) The main problem with this configuration is that it's not sturdy at all... and I didn't try to solve this issue yet. But I like very much the "perfect fit" of itly. Cheers, JP. (20 years ago, 17-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Ryan Wood
(...) That's not it, because you're absolutely right: it isn't sturdy. In fact the dome piece falls right off, if your palm tree pieces are anything like mine. I thought I'd found the perfect answer with that trick, too, but alas, no. The width of (...) (20 years ago, 17-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Allister McLaren
(...) That thing is snotalicious! Lot's o' fun in a small package. The 'why didn't I think of that' award goes to the large ball joint thing on the end of the star wars engine. Genius. That idea is going to be STOLEN. Allister (20 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Tom McDonald
(...) I have a feeling I won't hear that word on TV anytime soon ;-) (...) By all means. I'd love to see how you work it out. -Tom McD. (URL) (20 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Jean-Pascal Rignault
(...) Did you mean asnotishing? JP. (20 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Tim Courtney
     (...) Snotacular. -Tim (20 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —James Wilson
Tom, That's really nice! Any chance of some exploded views / building instructions, for those of us whose brains are too weak to work out the details? I really like the cockpit with the curved opening that echos the curvy-ness of the front of the (...) (20 years ago, 16-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Tom McDonald
(...) Thanks. I hadn't planned on it, but it might make for some interesting LDraw scenes to render. (...) After the engine front assembly had been completed, the rest of the design screamed "curves". (...) I didn't actually borrow that, but I was (...)         Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Stefan Garcia
This ship is sweet! The domed ball joint thingy looks really cool attached to the engines. Cool idea for a headrest. The binoculars on the back also give a cool touch to the ship. Awesome stuff! -Stefan- (20 years ago, 17-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Tom McDonald
(...) Thanks. Although it's not so much of a headrest as it is a way to seal the cockpit from the engine. The pilot's head actually touches the canopy piece, and he has to lean forward when it's opened/closed. I like the binoculars although (...)         Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Chris Maddison
(...) Tom, I'm 100% with Allister. That engine design is going to become mine soon. :-) Very cool job with that, unorthodox and schmoove. -Chris (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Carybdys Class Interceptor —Sylvia Tresto
Hi Tom! When this ship caught my eye all I could say was 'cuuuuuuuurves' for a minute or so. This was just amazing to see and I love the innovative use of the castle arch in the cockpit. And the engines. I know I don't add anything new to the (...) (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) Well, I've seen threads that were a few dozen responses or more, and ultimately there wasn't much difference amongst them either, but I still thank you for chiming in :-) And yes, cuuuuuuurves. I do have to say that Giddens' PCS inspired me (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
