Re: PP 1444 X, my P-38 contest entry

(...) Ley- this thing rocks!! There are so many cool details, and your unique way of putting bricks together shines through in spades. It even has a color scheme! (heh) (...) Heh, that sounds familiar. (...) That is truly beautiful. Canopies that (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Another racing ship- Grace

(3 URLs) (...) Thanks- I built the engines first and it took me many false starts to build something that looked like it went with them. And this is definitely the lightweight of the group. (...) Yep, that's exactly the kind of race she's made for. (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: The Slick Brick

(...) Wow, everyone likes the landing gear. Thanks so much for the kind words. Details and functionality seem to be easier on smallish models. I can't touch what you do on your usual scale, though. I have enough trouble greebling a 4x10 surface and (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: The Slick Brick

(...) Thanks- and I'll have to remember that sitting level is overrated. And as for limitations... all too true. Drat that windshield! (I still haven't built the support vehicle, but after alluding to this ship multiple times I felt that I had to (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: The Slick Brick

(...) The studlessness is something I'm forcing myself to do. I don't think I'll do a ton of 99% studless vehicles like this one, but I wanted to go to the extreme and then back off to find a good balance for future models. And the play features are (...)   Re: PP 1444 X, my P-38 contest entry

(...) I'd advise against it. The design, as it stands, is very innovative and just plain cool. Who cares if it isn't P-38ish? This is maybe your best moc so far, and, i think, your most ambitious. While i always enjoy the creative little bots and (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: PP 1444 X, my P-38 contest entry

(...) I'll take 'clever', 'cool', 'radical' and 'oddball', but I don't know about 'too'. In thinking of a 'space' version, I went to three dimensions and no 'right way up' so I 'squared' it. I could easily remove two of the wings and connect the (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

(...) <snip> (...) I did enjoy it very much! Love the greeblies! Great piece of work, J. This truly deserves to be mentioned in the best sci-fi replicas mad3e with LEGO, if not as one of the best MOC. Terry (URL) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Space Cargo Container Standard?

(...) Looks like a moonbase trailer park... :-) Actually, that's not a bad idea either. Why pack your belongings when you move? Just uncouple the module and transport the whole works. -Duane (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: P-38 Contest Entry: S/FB-12 "Lightning 2"

(...) Thanks for the compliments! I didn't mind the wing droop terribly, but it was due to a weak structure, not design, so I thought it best for the bricks to fix it. I might change that though. I first came up with the engine design a while back (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: That old set FEELING...

(...) Nah, I wouldn't flame you for that. It's easy to see the classic space through rose-colored glasses and I congratulate you at taking an honest, critical look at the sets. I remember when classic space came out. I really didn't know what to (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.town, FTX)

Re: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

Beautiful! Even though it's sub-minifig scale, it's an awesome creation. I like how it's suspended on the black stands, which is absolutely essential for such a fragile ship (only intended to be operated outside of a gravity well). (22 years ago, 26-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

(...) Just adding another Me Too. This was so stunning that I spent the last couple of days thinking about it to the point I dug out the movie and watched it again. I thought I'd point out that they do, in fact, refer to it as Discovery I at the (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space)

Re: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

(...) oh my goodness, Jason, this is amazing, I'm sure you've heard it before, but I had to mention it. I almost think the sin of cutting a box wrench is worth it in this case. Thanks, George (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: The Slick Brick

Tony, You seem to have found that building wind. This racer is quite nice - both its studlessness and all the interactive features you built in - stuff like the lockers and the neato landing gear. I also enjoy the implied violence of the racing (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
