Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

(...) Well it doesn't feel boxy to me until my eye gets right up to that front area where the corners poke out. Hey, what if you put the big Comm dish on the front? Just a thought. -Grand Admiral .space Curator (URL) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

(...) Maybe. I was going for a Y-wing kind of look, where the covers have been removed to facilitate maintenance. And I think they look cool, so why not shw 'em off? :-) (...) Thanks! (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

(...) Glad you like it. I think a big bubble on front sounds kinda luxurious, and I was going for the strictly utilitarian look. I agree that something needs to be done about the boxiness though. (...) This SHIP has been in the planning/contruction (...) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

(...) Unholy indeed, but yep, Star Wars and Jassim. Doesn't get any better. Two-stud-thick walls make it possible to build details right into the walls. And they're a lot stronger than single-stud. I agree about the proportions. The superstructure (...) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

(...) Thanks Admiral. Can't wait to see more pics of the Vanguard. The shuttlebay/engine arrangement of that one looks real good (and a little familiar ;-) I concocted the converted freighter bit as a way to explain how blocky this thing turned out. (...) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

(...) Thanks! The arboretum serves several functions: it helps recycle the atmosphere, it's a source of fresh fruits and vegetables, it is a place to keep botanical samples, and it's a nice place for the crew to relax. Every ship should have one! I (...) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

(...) I'm with you 100% about the blockiness. I must confess that the blocky shape made it a lot easier to fit in all of the interior details, though. The dark gray ribs, the "wings", the superstructure, and the exterior engines were all attempts to (...) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

(...) Wow... I don't need to add to the gushing over this thing, so I'll just leave it at wow... This is the sort of thing that makes me wish I wasn't a castle-head. I love well done spacecraft. And man... wow... As everyone has said, the details (...) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

(...) Man I wake up this morning and everyone's talking about that one thing, y'know? And this is that One Thing. Freakin awesome. You've made my day with this ship, Paul. I can't believe some of the stuff I see in this ship. Some of it is so (...) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

(...) OMG, truely amazing. Its one thing to build big, but its another thing all together to finish off such a large MOC with beautifully thoughtful detials like this. I'm simply blown away by your awareness and use of space in the smaller quarters (...) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

Man, this is really groovy. I really dig the sunken bridge stations and the galley. And a weight room! The attention to detail is groovtastic. And the Classic Space feel is right on target. It's like the super playset I never had. I really want to (...) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) <snip> (...) Hey you! Because of you I built that industrious Fleebnork and now I can't get rid of 'im!! He seems to show up somewhere in all my displays!! (URL) Attempts at catching are for naught! Grr!! ;) Dave K (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Women and Eric?

(...) Actually, LEGO was basically the only hobby that my ex-fiancee supported. And she was very attractive to boot! What was I thinking? Eh, whatreya gonna do. Dave K (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

(...) Absolutely amazing. As I've commented in other venues, this ship incorporates basically everything I've wanted to put in a ship since I was 5 years old...and 1000x better than I ever could. Bravo sir...bravo. Cheers, -Gil (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: deep-space exploration SHIP "Beagle"

This is just plain fantastic. The interior detail is wonderful, and has some great creative solutions. I don't mind the boxy shape so much, as it is a CS ship. The only suggestion I have is to maybe make covers to fit over the greebed-up engines. (...) (22 years ago, 2-Dec-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) bigger. I love the big ridiculous tail fins on the rear. The front end looks a bit boxy. I would suggest using some hinges and thin wall windows to make a nice large observation lounge or maybe the captain's quarters in between the sloped bits (...)
