I get an idea for a ship, then I think about it for a few days or weeks, before
putting any bricks together or putting anything on paper.  I found the best time
for this "mental review" is on the Metro ride to work and laying in bed before
goint to sleep.  I try to picture the ship from every angle.  I then start
building - usually a few test assemblies of critical peices of the design.  In
the past I have not been good about matching concept to inventory and I have
come up short on the right peices during construction.

My current project started with a shape generated by Erik Olson's Spheroid
Generator (http://olson.pair.com/moc/spheroid/spheroid.cgi), so I am trying
something new - I have been working in MLCAD to get a parts inventory before I
start building - also, my wife wants me to do a few things around the house
before I start another lego project.
