Glad you reposted this Matt...missed it first time around.

The ship you are basing it on looks wild...an unorthadox look that should be
a real challenge to build, although your first step are well on the way.  As
far as I can see, you can't get any closer to the original with that
cockpit...nice job.

wow... that's an amazing compliment. I actually printed that out at work and
have it highlighted and hanging in my cubicle. Thanks!

The rest of the ship looks like an excellent opportunity to combine
traditional studs-up building and SNOT (studs not on top) techniques.

Perhaps one way to proceed would be to build the engine pods, 'backbone' and
those 2 areas to either side of the cockpit as units on an underlying frame
that connects them.  These would be the studs-up parts.

I think I understand what you're saying here. My ability in SNOT building is
rather limited, as are the parts generally needed to pull it off... I'll
definitely give it a shot though... Right now I'm trying to decide on the
best way to handle the flooring. At the moment I'm just utilizing 10x20x1
bricks, and a few plates to hold them together. I'm thinking the best way to
handle the angled body might be to just build the interior as a straight
box, and build an empty angled wall using some plates on a hinge. Further
suggestions would be welcome. :)

For the decking that connects them all, it would be interesting to see if
this could be done in SNOT, allowing many opportunites to engreeble,
texturize etc. in contrast to the smooth surface.

Just my 2 bricks...

Good luck!

Cheers,
-Gil

Thanks Gil! It means a lot to me to have a long-time poster and top-notch
builder take the time to respond to this. I've been a fan of your stuff for
a while now, so you can imagine how excited I was to get a response from
you. Thanks again!

-The Matt
