Excellent ideas here.  I love both of them.

The opening hull is brilliant on the Armadillo.  I was originally shooting
for this on my I-wing.  It would have basically looked like a big flying
prozac ;-) (closing up in battle mode).  It was way way to hard for this non
gear-head to engineer the mechanism so small.  Kudos to you for pulling it
off on this ship.

The larger ship is filled with all sorts of spacey goodness.  Whats the stud
count? If its over 50 I'd like to add it to the sub-cap section.

Good stuff!

around with them:

The Armadon http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=18826

The pictures are somewhat larger than I expected, so I hope they aren't • too
slow.  Mediocre blurb follows.

From the Solar Union starship library:

Ovoiti "Armadillo"

Design Code: FG0328A
Type: Ground assault fighter
Maker: Ovoiti Defense Industries

Crew: 2 (Pilot, Gunner)
Powerplant and Drive System:  Unknown spectral motivator, denoted Ovoiti • B2
Weaponry: 1 Heavy pulse cannon, 2 medium charge lasers

Evaluation:  The Ovoiti heavy fighter known in Union ranks as the
"Armadillo" takes the stubborn Ovoiti aversion to casualties to an extreme
level, with mixed results.  For its size and purpose, the Armadillo's
weaponry is extremely underpowered, but the craft itself is nearly
impossible to knock down and fires with excellent accuracy.  On the rare
occasions the Ovoiti feel the need to send a message by force, their raids
become a battle against the clock: can the infrastructure that swarms of
Armadillo's gradually disect outlast the Ovoiti's willingness to risk • losses?

Ovoiti "Armadon"

Design Code: MW0323D
Type: Medium Transport
Maker: Ovoiti Defense Industries

Crew: 6-8
Powerplant: 2 ODIs3 StarTurbines
Drive System: 8 ODIa2 Spectral motivators
Weaponry: 8 Anti-capital arc torpedoes, 10 Tracking blast capsules

Evaluation:  Where a typical Ovoiti sloop-of-war uses its speed to enter • and
exit battles quickly, the "Armadon" command variant avoids the firing
entirely.  The weaponry it retains is intended to discourage pursuit and
keep the tacticians it carries out of harm's way.  Created to coordinate
attacks by other Ovoiti craft, in peacetime these small command ships may • be
encountered performing space traffic control or police duties.

(...) 48 Studs. I knew I should have added the Cadillac tailfins. Thanks for the complements. - Kenn (22 years ago, 12-Jun-02, to lugnet.space)
