I was wondering the same thing. I noticed that some of the models in
competition with my own seem in a different class. Perhaps I placed mine in
the wrong class, but I was basing it on the max number of pieces (so in my
mind it qualifies). Meanwhile, there is at least one model in the General
catagory that I thought could have been in line with another class.
Regardless, I think what it comes down to is that those of us submitting an
entry decided when we did so which class to compete in, for our own reasons
and understanding of the rules. Once that choice is made, the voters have
to stick to it (as Jude mentioned).
Personally, I think this contest is about the fun of building and sharing
models (and story backgrounds) with other Space enthusiasts. The honor to
participate is both the challenge and the prize. In that sense, I think
we're all winners! The voting is just an extra chance for us to highlight
special MOCs that deserve a few bragging rights, but I'd say I loved all the
submissions regardless of which I voted for!
