  Scout Byte Codes Available

Howdy, all the Scout byte codes are available at: (URL) will give more in-depth information and examples in the future, but all the codes are now there. Unlike the RCX, it looks like it is possible to get a program off the Scout. With the RCX you (...) (26 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

  What is the scout?

It´s not the computer that comes with the RIS, is it? Is it perhaps the DDK computer? --Tobias (26 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

Legalities of reverse-engineering (was: Re: Thoughts on NQC for Scout)

[Disclaimer: IANAL!] (...) Hmm, I'm not so sure. Did everyone actually *really* agree not to reverse- engineer it? Look closer at the license agreement[1]...it says that you may not: (ii) modify, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble (...)   Re: Scout Byte Codes

I took a look at the Scout SDK License Agreement and I didn't see restrictions on other platforms but it says that you may not "create derivative works based upon the software". This seems to be a contradiction because the SDK includes the program (...) (26 years ago, 24-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

  Re: Scout Byte Codes

I was thinking of the same sort of thing for NQC too. However that means I would have to implement NQC on the Palm as well. For the Scout I would have add the Scout tool translator to the Palm. Another possiblity is the pollm command. I've still to (...) (26 years ago, 23-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

  Re: Scout Byte Codes

Mike, It looks like you are well on your way to figuring out those byte codes. I thought of a handy app for the Palm; a Scout LASM program downloader. It would be nice to be able to store my favorite .asm files on the Palm and be able to transfer (...) (26 years ago, 23-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

  Scout Byte Codes

I just started figuring out the Scout byte codes. It's mostly done, but my in-laws are coming over for Thanksgiving so I'll have to stop for a few days. Here's what I have so far: (URL) Kory (26 years ago, 23-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

  Re: Selflearning Scout robot

(...) a (...) Hi Bert, You did already dig deeply into the Scout! Very interesting. It surely applies to more complex behaviour too. I used a similar approach with my learning brick sorter, but I never thought to the roulette wheel, it's a very (...) (26 years ago, 23-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.scout)

  Selflearning Scout robot

Using the new Lego SDK for the Scout I've built and programmed a self learning Scout robot. The artificial intelligence of the Scout is based on a roulette wheel brain. The small robot will drive around and learn how to avoid colliding into walls (...) (26 years ago, 22-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.scout)

  Re: Scout SDK

(...) I don't use Linux but if dosemu properly emulates the serial port I don't see why this wouldn't work. (...) The Scout can hold one user program in RAM and it must fit into about 400 bytes. This may not sound like much but most Scout actions (...) (26 years ago, 21-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)
