EGCS was kind of a reinvention of gcc, which then became the official gcc • once

So EGCS is more recent than gcc?  I can't seem to find the official download
site for it anywhere.  gcc 3.0.4 was ubdated earlier this year...  This
whole relationship between gcc and EGCS is very confusing, especially when
www.freshmeat.net doesnt even have egcs available!
