Is there any documentation on classes for the LeJOS?  How do I write a

There are some examples in the distribution. For a documentation you have to
call javadoc. Naturally it is helpfull if you have some knowledge on the RCX.
There is only a lack of documentation which Java-features are missing. You
have to go through javadoc (or the compiler tells you what is missing :-))

Is it worth the trouble to replace the firmware?
Definetly yes. And to switch back and force is just a matter of 2-3 minutes,
so you give up nothing.
