| | GP2D12 IR sensor RCX active sensor interface?
| I recently acquired several Sharp GP2D12 IR distance sensors that I want to attach to the RCX for use in the robotics course I'm teaching at Vassar College. I found an RCX interface circuit for this sensor at (URL) I go ahead and build it, I though (...) (23 years ago, 5-Oct-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | Re: RIS 1.0 vs 1.5: which more "desirable"?
| You will get a few extra parts with the 1.5 version, but the RCX does not have a place to plug in an AC Power adapter. NQC will work fine with both systems. Scout is junior to the Robotics System. Take a tour of the MindStorms sites and you will (...) (25 years ago, 8-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| | Rechargable battery questions
| Greetings, I am yet another lucky person graced with an RIS this holiday season. I already seem doomed to buying more Lego sets for extra parts. I was quickly thwarted trying to build examples in Jonathan Knudsen's book which I assume is based on (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | Use PC's IR port instead of IR tower?
| Hello, Is it possible to use a PC's IR port, instead of the IR tower, to communicate with an RCX? (I have a Dell Inspiron 3500). -- Brad Aisa baisa@NOSPAMbrad-aisa.com -- PGP public keys available at: (URL) faire." (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | Re: RIS 2.0 - when, where, what??
| Thanks Dean, where did you get your info - have you an inside source? Or would you have to kill me if you told me??? I was kind of hoping that the next RCX would be a bit smaller. Some nice Lithium ion rechargeable batteries. Some more I/O. More (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| (...) First of all, thanks a lot for making RcxCC. I'm a newbie (owning my RIS since X-mas), but I already love NQC and RcxCC. There's just one little feature that I missed: remembering the last-used path for source files between sessions. Ah yes, (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| | Re: No CD with my new RIS 1.5
| I would contact LEGO Technical Support.and have them send you the CD. There is no other drag and drop simple way to program the RCX that you can get online for free. The update to 2.0 won't do you any harm or good at this point. (24 years ago, 15-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | Re: communication PC <-IR-> RCX
| Hi Pavel, check out the program loader. Basically, you have to register your own port handler for incoming packets on the PC. You should also acknowledge them in some way, so the RCX knows what's going on. Maybe IR networking should become secure. (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

As far as I am concerned, RIS only really appeals to me because of the access that NQC has permitted to the RCX. Were we to have been (...) (21 years ago, 11-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| | Re: RF Connection To RCX
| Hi! I also try to use RF to replace IR communication. My idea, to create a RF/IR two way adapter and to make an RF tower connected with PC. The adapter taped with RCX can receive RF signals from PC and pass to RCX by using IR emitter. And if RCX (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| The tower is just a serial device! No driver (other than that supplied by Win2K) needed! You can also use NQC to program your brick, or order RoboLab ($25) from Pitsco (www.pldstore.com). Here are my biases: RCX code teaches you *nothing* about real (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| I have an RIS 1.5 set, which doesn't have the power connector. I seem to run through a set of batteries in 1-2 weeks, which will eventually get very expensive. |

Actually, it produces a little more power than ordinary batteries. You need a socket for external power on the RCX (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
