| When I muck about with Exploration Mars software, the RCX doesn't go out of range until it's out of the room. With pbForth, the RCX receives the commands over just as far a range, but can only send its "ok" feedback when it is quite close to the (...) (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

|
| Here's my drawing of the RCX IR transmission circuit (receiver circuit to follow soon): (URL) With the voltages as shown, the RCX is not transmitting. The IR LEDs are powered by a 600mA current sink. I haven't measured for waveforms yet - the (...) (20 years ago, 20-Jan-05, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx, FTX)

| | RE: IR Problems
|
| RCX IR does not require direct line of sight. All sorts of reflections will work. Especially if you're in a "smallish" (bedroom, home office) room. The RCX firmware always has the IR turned off. "Wait for mail" and "send mail" is just a higher (...) (18 years ago, 2-Apr-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| I just wondered - is it possible to use the ir tower as an irDA-port? I know that it isn't the protocal that the rcx uses, but since the rcx can coummunicate with e.g. a palm .. (URL) shouldn't it be possible to do it the other way round? In that (...) (21 years ago, 18-May-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| On the page (URL) look under the description of his send command and you'll see he sends a query "10" (hex) and gets a response "ef". This value, 0xEF, is the logical not (modulus 0xFF) of the query value 0x10. The tilde means "not". Dennis (...) (23 years ago, 3-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
