| Hi, I have RIS 1.5 and with an RCX 2.0 brick, I have downloaded the SDK 2.0 but the sample programs report Error (0xe0050c98) from VPBrick vpb: bad (unsupported) PBrick type Is this because I am using RIS 1.5? | The 'usual' way to get status data is to poll the the RCX memory for status information, but you can't do that because of the number of RCX bricks; so how about getting each RCX to send a response message (or series of messages) to the PC encoding (...) | Hi, I'd like to know what kind of adapter I could use (and how) for supplying my RCX with power, since it has no inlet. I have tried to use DC adapters for 6, 9, and 12 Volts, all without success. | For the most part, the differences are in documentation and additional/different pieces, not the RCX hardware itself or the software. The one hardware difference is the lack of an external adapter plug in 1.5 (so, lots more batteries) and I believe (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jun-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| hey i read that you can perform ir ranging with an rcx. how can i pull this off? please help. and has anyone tried building a laser diode that is mindstorms compatible? i tried it but i killed my laser. i figure you can do some cool stuff with the (...) | (...) I doubt anything (short of a 2MV Lightning Flash) will warm anything in 1 msec. ;) Also, the receiver won't warm up until the header has been read in completion and decoded. | I might be able to help somewhat. I use my PC running FreeBSD to talk to my RCX (RIS 1.5). After much heartache I found that if I used "ecu" as my terminal, it worked.
