Laser pointers were legal in the uk but to my knowledge have been banned because kids were misusing them, in one incident a Bus nearly crashed and the driver was in hospital for a while after a school kid bounced the laser beam of the rear (...) (...) Check out Dave Baum's NQC (Not Quite C). This is your best bet, IMHO. NQC doesn't get around the significant limitations of the RCX firmware, but it should easily be able to handle the application that you describe. (URL) you are running a (...) Allow me to request a little help from all the rcx experts out there. I've purchased Mindstorms set and the infrared remote control. Thanks Dave. I hadn't downloaded the firmware yet. Originally, I was simply hoping to use the remote control and the rcx to drive my trains. So I didn't bother to install the software. Now I know.
