  Re: fast firmware downloader

(...) Wes, A good place to start with the porting is to grab the latest NQC source code from www.enteract.com/~dbaum/nqc and take a look at the family of PSerial classes in the platform directory. Create a new class (e.g. PSerial_dos) that (...) (27 years ago, 30-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos, lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

  Re: legOS-0.2.1

Cool! If no one else does, I'll try to get it working on Windows next week, along with the rest of the HOWTO push.   legOS-0.2.1

Hello, legOS 0.2.1 is out. No, I'm not working full time on legOS - this is just a day's work. Apart from minor bug fixes, a new file format for user programs is introduced, along with the tools to support it. The dynamic loader is a standalone C (...) (...) And I always thought people would strike at the red button instinctively. Well, it's the green one. legOS will behave likewise, then - ON/OFF will work even if tasks are running. Markus. (27 years ago, 28-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) I'm willing to cover the DOS port since I'm working on a DOS->RCX comm project already. I already have my HP LX200 doing minimal comm with the RCX with hopes of having it ride alongside as a computational component. -Wes Matchett (27 years ago, 28-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos, lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

  Re: fast firmware downloader

(...) I'll start by pulling the 4x code into the NQC source base. That should make it trivial to build a stand-alone command line based downloader for Win32 (95/nt/98), Linux, Solaris, and Mac 68k/ppc under MPW. We could also get Win3.1 and DOS (...)   Firmware behaviour

Hi all, does the ON/OFF Button work while a program is running with the standard firmware? Or do you need to press RUN to stop it first? Markus. (27 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Thanks to All!

I really appreciate all of the great feedback. I've figured out which way I'm going so I'll probably have more specific programming questions in the near future. (...) Sounds like I may need to make a run on RCX units if I want some for use with train layouts etc where I want them running on wall power rather than battery power. Any idea why TLG has removed the power jack? (27 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Well, what I think (hope!) Richard means is... well... to start from scratch: The subsumption architecture is a way of thinking about programming robots.   RCX 1.0 availablilty

This is a message I posted on RTL: Here is what I have observed so far: The RCX's in the plain 1.0 boxes all have power jacks.
