Re: Listening to IR via NQC

(...) Yes, that is what I'm looking for. Unless anyone else knows of anything, I guess it's time to dive into the coding. :) (...) Yeah, that would work great. Does anyone have code that does this? (Don't want to reinvent the wheel...) I know of (...) (27 years ago, 24-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

Re: Listening to IR via NQC

(...) If I understand you correctly, then this is more difficult than it sounds, because the IR tower shuts down after a few seconds after the PC stops transmitting. Things work fine if the PC initiates a conversation (e.g. by asking the RCX to send (...) (27 years ago, 23-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

  Listening to IR via NQC

I know that NQC can send IR messages; can it -- or any other command-line program -- listen to the IR port and dump any incoming messages to a file (or stdout)? (27 years ago, 23-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

  I have two brains!

Or at least two RCXs. (Thanks Jeff.) Now, with the aid of my friend Paul and his mindstorms set, it's time to go about implementing Pong. (27 years ago, 22-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

How to get ROM image on Win95/98?

Hi, Has anyone tried to obtain a ROM image on a Win95/98 box? Also where can I find a dissambler for the ROM image? Thanks Andy (27 years ago, 21-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Decoding the LEGO IR remote control

This LEGO IR remote control (#9738) is making me crazy!!!! Dave and Kekoa have posted in depth explanations of the remote's coding, but I must be awfully dense and am missing something somewhere. I've tried two approaches: First, I used both a (...) (27 years ago, 19-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Decoding the LEGO IR remote control

(...) The Lego IR protocol is pretty simple. If you have demodulated output, why not dump some samples here so we can see if they make sense? The encoding is straight serial, but inverted - a pulse of light indicates a zero or a low voltage on a (...) (27 years ago, 18-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Decoding the LEGO IR remote control

Hi All - - A couple of weeks ago I received my LEGO MindStorms #9738 remote control. It's really cool to be able to select, start, and stop programs ... override the motor controls ... send messages, etc. If fact, it's SO COOL that I want to be able (...)   Performance problem with Java API

Hi! I am currently working on a Java API for the RCX to implement the features of the PBrick (SPIRIT.OCX) interface in Java. So far, using the Java Comm API 2.0 and Kekoa Proudfoot's description, it does everything right except for one thing: (...) (27 years ago, 18-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Decoding the LEGO IR remote control

(...) Ah, so the infamous d2 opcode is finally fully explained. What the d2 opcode did was discovered a while back when the firmware was disassembled, but people could only guess as to why Lego put such an opcode into the RCX. It was never connected (...)   Re: Decoding the LEGO IR remote control

(...) Hello Kekoa - - I apologize for not being able to make myself clear. I want to use the LEGO #9738 to control robots that use something other that the RCX for a controller. I envision a Sharp GP1U581Y IR receiver driving a PIC. The PIC will (...) (27 years ago, 18-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Decoding the LEGO IR remote control

(...) Do you want to connect the PIC to the IR tower to receive signals from the Lego remote control, or do you want to build your own IR receiver, and attach the PIC to that? The encoding of the IR is pretty simple. The IR tower contains a circuit (...) (27 years ago, 17-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Decoding the LEGO IR remote control

(...) [snip] (...) What makes this especially intrigueing is that the remote control box does not send messages with the same preamble as the RCX does. The RCX with take an RCX message and treat it as a message. The stuff from the remote is treated (...) (27 years ago, 17-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Decoding the LEGO IR remote control

In light of the underwhelming lack of response to my LEGO IR post, maybe I need to clarify a little: The RCX tower and the LEGO remote control (#9738) both transmit a 38kHz carrier which is modulated at a 2400bps rate. The encoding is 8 data bits, (...) (27 years ago, 17-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Decoding the LEGO IR remote control

Hello All - - I'm interested in using a LEGO IR remote control to control other things besides the RCX. Has anyone here done any PIC development along these lines? I would like to use a PIC to decode the output of a Sharp GP1U581Y and convert the 16 (...) (27 years ago, 17-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Version 1.5

I have seen a Mindstorm box here in the USA for version 1.5 apart from 10 less pieces and a recomendation for a 166Mz PC what is the diffference. I here there are lot of bug fixes is this in the PC software or the RCX brick. I have seen coments of a (...) (27 years ago, 15-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: RCX 'brick connectors' and how-they-work??

On the subject of making connector blocks, I have been very successful with taking the conductor strips you get as a S@H service pack, hacking two squares out, slotting one edge of each of the 2x2s, soldering wires to that side, slotting the inside (...)   Re: RCX 'brick connectors' and how-they-work??

Thanks, Jonathan && Others... I'll look at the patent. With all the 'clones' out there, is it likely that Lego would complain if someone made compatible-but-not- identical connectors?? How do they handle the Clone Market?? Couple of questions, (...) (27 years ago, 14-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  RCX as a universal remote?

Here's a thought: You're in the bedroom with your trusty RCX on the floor. You're watching TV, but the tuner is in another room. You point your remote at your RCX, change channels, and the RCX scurries out of the room, off to repeat the IR command (...) (27 years ago, 13-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
