8 power levels, and only 8?

Hi there, Inspired by the answer by Juergen Stuber in the lejos/legos thread, I suddenly began to think about the fact that "we" only have eight power levels to choose among. Why is that? And can it be changed? When programming my bot for the W3D, I (...) (23 years ago, 19-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

Re: Does lejOS has the same functions as legOS?

(...) No, for example LNP and speedometer are missing, motor control is standard with 8 power levels. In general it uses the standard ROM routines much more than legos. On the good side the rotation sensor problems it had until two months ago are (...) (23 years ago, 19-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos, lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

Re: Using two RCX bricks in one robot

As long as there is some surface for the IR to bounce off, the bricks do not have to face each other. Sending messages is the technique that is used and is very effective. You can do this with any of the various programming languages. -- Bob Fay (...) (23 years ago, 18-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  New Java Book

Amazon announced the publication of a new book: "Programming Lego Mindstorms With Java" by Brian Bagnall, Dario Laverde. Can anyone recommend it? Has anyone read a prepublication copy? Jerry (23 years ago, 18-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

Using two RCX bricks in one robot

I'm kicking around the idea of building a Mindstorm's based entry for the Trinity College Fire-Fighting Home Robot Contest (see (URL) ). I may be mistaken, but it seems impractical to attempt this task with a single brick... there just don't seem (...) (23 years ago, 18-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Does lejOS has the same functions as legOS?

I ma using legOS and NQC, I also viewed lejOS, but I am not sure if lejOS can provide all functions of legOS provides, then does lejOS run in the same speed as legOS? Zhengrong (23 years ago, 18-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos, lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

new RoboLab 2.5 compatible with old serial IR tower & RCX 1.0

Pitsco told me that the new RoboLab 2.5 CDROM will still support the old serial port IR tower with RCX 1.0. Other than just the USB support does anyone know what benefits RoboLab 2.5 offers with the new USB IR tower and RCX 2.0? (23 years ago, 17-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.robolab)

  tower not responding

I have spent the last couple of days compiling and setting up legOS on my 486SX/33 laptop. I am using legOS 0.2.5 which I got from Sourceforge, and binutils 2.11 (i think) and gcc 2.95.3, which I got from the official GNU site. Compiling 2.95.3 took (...)
