Thanks for the Toshiba pointer. Found the data sheet at: (URL) appears to have 8K masked ROM, and 256 bytes (!) of RAM. It also has a serial port and 6 A/D ports, which I don;t believe are being used in the Microscout. I'm going to look around and (...) (24 years ago, 21-May-01, to lugnet.robotics.microscout)

Has anyone dome any hardware hacking of the MicroScout? I pulled a surplus one apart, to see if there was any potential for hacking. Hi, I found two deformed 1 x 4 plates some months ago, don't remember in which set that was. I remember though being surprised, since it was the first time in many years this had happened to me. Some of the Scout's built-in programs emit Visible Light Link codes from its LED (output port 3) to trigger built-in programs in the Micro (...) Anybody have any instructions/tips for the fish with jaws that you see in the DDK (jm17.mov). I'm kinda new to mindstorms and my 3.5 year old son wants me to build it. Also, what's it called. You can't actually do this the way you describe. You can't pulse the motor outputs as required to drive the FOS with the standard firmware. The FOS has only one LED, and the VLL signal is a bit more complicated than on/off. You can use the scout VLL (...)
