  Handyboard problems

We've encountered a problem with our Handyboard that we hope the list may be able to help solve. It all started with the "Normal/Zap" switch on the charger board, which was somewhat loose. It wiggled whenever we changed the setting. After a couple (...) (27 years ago, 26-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: Replacement for ZTX614 NPN Darlington Transistor

I have looked in the Maplins Catalogue and they don't stock the 614, they stock others but not this particular one and I was wondering if anybody knew of a compatible version. Thanks for any help. John Hatton johnha@icsplc.co.uk (...) (27 years ago, 26-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: IR Demodulator Range Finder Hack

(...) Sure thing. The basic wiring for a 555 in astable mode is pretty straightforward; +5 volts |-----+ +-|-----|-+ +-Res.1-------| 8 4 | | | | |---...---| 7 3 |------> to Base of BJ Transistor Res. 2 | | | +----| 6 "555" | | | | | +--------+----| (...)   Sonar Adaption

I am building a sonar ranging device and I want to add it to one of the digital inputs on the HandyBoard. How do you get the board to respond to the message given to it from the sonar? Adam Freedman adamfdp@aol.com (27 years ago, 26-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Polaroid 6500 stuff

Oh yeah, I meant to send an e-mail: "There are new drivers and a wiring diagram for using the Polaroid 6500 sonar ranging module with the Handy Board!! Just visit the HB home page: (URL) -Fred" That said, the answer to this question is simply, get (...) (27 years ago, 26-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Polaroid 6500 stuff

We're planning to use the new Polaroid 6500 stuff on the Handyboard web page. We intend to use a six volt power source to drive our motors independently of the power source to the Handyboard itself (by cutting the appropriate trace on the board). (...)   moving

i know you've told us a thousand times who to send requests like this to, but i'm a looser who suffers from chronic "outlook is a piece of doggy doo" syndrome... i am moving from coreyfro@deepwell.com to coreyfro@cwws.net and would like to retain (...)   Re: IR Demodulator Range Finder Hack

Try RADIO SHACK. They stock a pocket book range by Forest Mims. One of these is specifically on playing with the 555 timer IC Regards Terry Howsham (27 years ago, 25-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: IR Demodulator Range Finder Hack

Thanks to David Kott for the addresses, the pdf file is a slightly updated version of the original so it will come in useful. He mentioned that he was using a circuit to modulate the IR transmission from the LEDs by using a NE555 to trigger a (...) (27 years ago, 25-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Replacement for ZTX614 NPN Darlington Transistor

I am writing to see if anybody knows of a suitable replacement for the ZTX614 transistor driving the IR transmittion circuit. I can't find any easily available in the UK and was wondering if there are any other NPN Darlington transistors that can (...) (27 years ago, 24-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
