  Re: 2nd line of display

Have you considered storing the first line as a string and the second line as a string too so you can "reprint" the first line with the same contents making it look like only the second line was updated? I've never done it before so this is just off (...) (27 years ago, 24-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Where can one find info on the A1 vs E1 differences you mention. This is not in the 68HC11 reference manual (pink book).   RE: Which 68HC11x1xx

If you look in you 68HC11 Reference manual in sections 2.1.1 to 2.1.5 there is a description of the differences and there is a table showing the memory sizes for the different types (by the way the table misses the 8K ROM in the MC68HC11A8 entry in (...)   Re: Which 68HC11x1xx

'a0 is an earlier and discontinued version of the 'a1. 'e1 has some different features than the 'a1 but is almost identical for HB purposes. 'e1 has a little more internal RAM (which isn't really used by Interactive C) and some more flexibility on (...) (27 years ago, 24-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Smoking serial/charger board...!!!

make sure you have a telephone-style and not network-style RJ11 cable. Here is how you tell if you have a telephone-style or network-style RJ11 cable. Hold the two ends together, metal contact side up, as if you were trying to plug them into each (...) (27 years ago, 24-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: New list member

Regarding your problem with the jack on the serial line getting hot and melting (uh oh), I believe it is because the HB and Mini-SSC serial lines aren't quite compatable. If you're lucky, you might be getting data through (random coincidence?), but (...) (27 years ago, 23-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Load Capacitance of the 8MHz crystal?

Obtaining the Handyboard in the UK

I have check with Customs & Excise in the UK and they say that there is no ?145 limit so obtaining the board from Hong Kong seems like a better idea and getting the enclosures from the states on their own (the charger needs to be obtained in the UK (...)   Re: Converting servos + other stuff

(...) Servos work well, but are constrained to relatively light robots (less thana three pounds. You can use them on heavier robots if you install a bearing axle for the wheels and just use the servo to drive the wheel. Basically the servo wasn't (...)
