  Re: frame material

One good source for mechanical parts and stock material is Small Parts Inc. They have a nice catalog with lots of extra information - a must have for robotics experimenters, IMHO. (...) When I used to build aluminum robots I bought it at the hardware store. They usually have racks of metal, steel, aluminium, and sometimes copper and brass. Hobby stores sell small pieces also. I now mostly use plastic (for small robots) or (...) (28 years ago, 4-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  frame material

Hi, Does anyone know of a good place to get material for building a frame for a robot - preferably aluminum? This is for a robot who's overall size is app. 12 inches by 12 inches so it needs to be something like 3/4 inch channel with some thickness (...)   Re: Black + White Camera

The Wavecom Jr. from RFLink (~170$ for a xmit/receive pair) does color video and stereo audio in the 2.5Ghz band. Much better than the 900Mhz stuff. Can get it from Sharper Image (1-800 something...call 1800 555 1212 and ask). Can run off 12V (...) (28 years ago, 4-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: SPI header

The SPI (synchronous peripheral interface) does not do normal RS-232 (aka "asynchronous serial") in hardware. you must write an assembly language driver to do the timing. at some point in january i plan to release a 1200 baud output driver. if (...)   Sonar

Hi, I wrote recently asking information about how to use the Polaroid sonar device with the Handy Board. I got back information on where to look for software but no real information on how to connect the hardware. Could anyone help me out with this? (...)   FW: Black + White Camera

I have seen these all over - they are simple 900Mhz wireless links for video/audio. I think Radio Shack sells a device like this, as do the two places Mike Ross mentioned, JDR (URL) and Supercircuits (URL)---...--- (...) (28 years ago, 3-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) I put one on my project. Expect video dropouts from Rabbit type (i.e. 900 MHz) devices, when the robot goes behind trees, dense walls, and other areas. If you're using the video to drive the robot remotely, you'll have to back out of such (...) (28 years ago, 3-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
