  Voltage regulator gets hot when steering servo

Hi, I'm working on a project in which I use the handy-board to steer a servo. I noticed that the voltage regulator on my handy-board gets rather hot. You actually burn your fingers on it... So I wondered how much current I can draw from it, without (...) (28 years ago, 21-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Polaroid & Handyboard

Okay...I hooked up a Polaroid Rannging board to the Handyboard. And something about the supply prevents the echo from being properly detected. If I provide power from a more substantial supply, the echo is detected correctly (I was watching this on (...) (28 years ago, 21-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  bus loading

Hi Scott, (...) Since everything's CMOS, there's no trouble with static loading (CMOS inputs require essentially zero current in static operation). You will, however, be increasing the capacitance on the bus, which slows down the transitions a (...) (28 years ago, 21-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Interface/charge board problem>>part II :)

Hello again, After several fustrating hours of checking all solder connections, cables, and all that other stuff. I finaly think that my problem is in the MAX232 chip on the charger board. If I remove the chip from it's socket, the handy board will (...) (28 years ago, 21-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  HandyBoard Expansion.....

Hi I'm roughing out a design to add some more(*) IO to my handyboard and have run into a slight problem.... I'm going to have another 4 devices on the data bus, 2 x 74HC574 & 2 x 74HC541. Will this exceed the "fan out" of the cpu ? (I don't have the (...) (28 years ago, 21-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Integer -> float

(...) Are you sure about this? In your example, i is the float and f the integer. Silvain (28 years ago, 20-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Digitals outputs and SPI

Hi, I read something about controlling the SPI bus and about adding digital outputs, but I can't find it anymore. Can anybody help me? Thanks. Regards. -David (28 years ago, 20-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Integer -> float

Hi Micah, To convert an int to a float, simply type: i=(float)f; where i is the integer and f is a float. - Prabal (...) (28 years ago, 20-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Integer -> float

I know I have seen the answer to this somewhere before, but I can't remember how to convert an integer to a float. Micah D. Krider kmicah@uwf-uf.ee.uwf.edu (28 years ago, 20-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: IR communication (fwd)

There will be a lot of IR radiation bouncing around and that can be problematic. Another IR detection technique is to use a camcorder, they are sensitive to IR light. Low light CCD cameras are even better. If you want to hook up 4 IR xmitters from a (...) (28 years ago, 20-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Battery Care

Hi, What's the best way to care for the NiCd pack of the Handyboard? I understand that NiCd's undergo the "memory effect". Does this mean that you should always use your Handyboard untill the RED LED light comes on...and then recharge it? Is it OK (...) (28 years ago, 20-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Polaroid Sonar

Hi, I'm powering my Ranging Module with the 9.6V unregulated motor power header. Does anyone know if there is a danger in doing so? (28 years ago, 19-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Uh oh, serial questions

I am trying to get a handyboard and a miniboard to talk to each other over the serial ports. I am using Randy Sargent's notes, and that all seems fine. Some times, quite randomly, the handyboard "locks up". The heart beat stops, and the board stops (...) (28 years ago, 19-Nov-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
