Let me elaborate....it includes a fiber optic unit, a
battery box, a micro motor, an old style 9V motor, 2 electric switches,
4 wires ( 2 long, 2 short), and a bunch of beams, and gears, and pegs oh
my!  Well worth it ( in my mind).

Greetings,
It's a bit expensive but lego still has a few of
the space shuttle kits for sale. It has a load of parts. I just got mine
yesterday so I can't tell you all the parts but it had a load of gears
and a micro motor.

Any suggestions for kits that provide both mico motors and a nice array
of
gear elements?

(...) This kit forces all other LEGO Technic kits to look pale by comparison. It is just awesome - the Rube-Goldberg gearbox function changer is a work of art IMHO. DLC (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)
