Thanks for the website plug. The price is right, but it won't be calibrated
for either F or C. It seems the Radio Shack thermister has a little
different temperature/resistance slope from the LEGO one. I'd guess that
after somebody adjusted the setpoint to control a measured temperature, the
reliability would be good. LEGO stuff looks like it was built to take a lot
of abuse. You would need to use a good calibrated thermometer to adjust the
setpoint experimentally, a plug in the wall transformer to power the RCX and
set the RCX so it wouldn't automatically shutoff after 15min.

| (...) You can also get fairly good results from using boiling water and ice water for 100 C and 0 C respectively. It helps to put the ice water in a foam cup with a hole in the lid for the sensor, and leave it sit for a few minutes to give the water (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)
