I wish I could find this page again because I would like to (...) (25 years ago, 10-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)

| | | | This is an excerpt from an "almost" real-life experience: Lalala, look mom! My robot has four motors! Two on each side to power the tank treads. Is this cool or what!? *All of a sudden, the robot makes a strange noise, emmits some smoke, and stops* (...) (25 years ago, 10-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)

| | | | | Hi, I found that one of my Mindstorms motors is a bit stronger than the other. The robot should go forward, but slightly diverts right. When I exchange the motors and nothing else, it diverts to the left. Does anybody else have similar experiece? (...) (25 years ago, 10-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)

| | | | | | (...) Unfortunately, almost all of the motors are slightly uneven. Look up "adder/subtracter" or go back through the list to find mechanical solutions which allow your robot to go in a straight line regardless. The archives are at (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)

| | | | | | (...) Out of the 6 motors that I own none of them rotate at the same speed. (URL) has some mechanical solutions (using an adder/subtractor) for solving this problem. Note that for many types of robots (line followers, etc) it really isn't a problem, (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)

| | | | | (...) That's just how mechanical parts are - all parts are slightly different. I've used a differential between the two motors, and then measured the position difference with a rotation sensor. In NQC I just make one of the two motors "float" when (...)
