yes. Here's a new group I can support.

[Not agreeing or disagreeing; just gathering info...]

The bulk of traffic in the current robotics group/list still mainly consists
of RCX hardcore programming, although there are intermittent building
discussions and beginner's questions/answers.  Some of the more esoteric
discussions (technical details, etc. of legOS, NQC, and pbFORTH) have moved
on to their own focused sub-groups, which gives the main robotics group/list
a bit more breathing room and flexibility.  It still, however, is probably
not entirely friendly or inviting to novices, which may be a problem and
which may be why some people feel a novice subgroup it would be useful.

If there were a new sub-group for beginners/casual users/novices,

What types of discussions would be appropriate in this new group?
- building?
- installation & setup of LMS/RIS software?
- troubleshooting?
- educational applications?
- where to buy?

What are the advantages (to the novices) of a subgroup for novices?

What are the disadvantages (to the rest of the community) of having a
subgroup for novices?

How might such a new group be characterized and named? (propose some
options)
