  **lego motors?**
 
Hi I built a robot and it wont travel straight at equal power levels? Why do I need to set the motors at such different levels to get the bot to travel straight? I am using the click and drag software that came with the rcx. any help much (...) (25 years ago, 12-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Hmmm, Lego gearboxes. I've just spent two weeks playing with different styles off gearbox. I haven't found a good powered solution yet. The problem being that the standard gears just don't mesh nicely enough. Making a gearbox is simple enough and (...) (25 years ago, 12-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

I've been thinking in building an automatic gearbox with two speeds. If the motor was making too much strength it would lower the gear, and if it's running too fast it would increase the gear. Is there any design like that already built? Maybe with (...) (25 years ago, 12-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

I haven't got the Super Car 8880 (It came and went in my dark ages, anyone got one for sale in the UK). I think I understand how it works, how small do you think you could make that with RIS parts? (...) I don't think that it would take up a lot of space at all. In fact, the largest part should be the motor that is used to engage/disengage the gear. Using a tractor hub, two 16-T gears, and two axles (with other parts to hold this all together, (...) (25 years ago, 13-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Check out my "adaptive transmission" LDRAW CAD drawings posted awhile ago on the cad.dat newsgroup. This design largely solves the "go straight" problem. It uses two independent left/right drive trains, interconnected through a single differential (...) (25 years ago, 17-Apr-99, to lugnet.robotics)
